Lucía Franco

My name is Lucía Franco, I’m an Uruguayan author and illustrator; Graduate in Graphic Design at ORT University in Montevideo.

Since my childhood I’ve attended several painting, drawing and photography workshops and schools. I’ve worked as graphic designer for several studios and agencies, and did art direction in a publishing house; from that moment on, I started to specialize in editorial design and illustration.

Between 2013 to 2017, I lived in the United States, where I worked as a freelance illustrator and designer. I returned to Uruguay in 2017 and since then I have been working independently.

I have participated in several contests, and collective and individual exhibitions in Uruguay and abroad; I’ve also worked in publications, illustrating notes, book covers, records, products and children’s stories from Uruguay, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, France and the United States.

My illustration is always full of details; I use a widespread variety of materials in my work, including colored pencils, watercolor, cutout paper, wax pastels, and ink to create highly engaging and colorful images, with lots of texture and expressiveness.
